Questions and Notes on Case study 1 Presentation
Q: It was an interesting point about how to avoid duplication of effort in workflows. Is there an approach to avoiding making duplicate workflows that you learned from your project?
A: In short, no. The problem with depositing it again in another repository is that it might be going through a workflow process again. Now if you could just point it back to where it was, then you’re relying on something being done once and that idea appeals to me. But that’s as far as I’ve got with the thinking on that. Certainly I think that if they start looking to replace their research database with something new, like what Janet was saying, then we’re going to have to look at the workflow again. If the likes of ORE has become cemented, then that might be something that we would look at, but we’re loath to go down that road now (at the moment).
